Nursery

When I returned home, I explained to the Queen that I would take full responsibility for the children. I was allowed to appoint Ra Atl and some of the other fathers to care for them. My son was an idiot, being extremely traumatized by the kidnapping and subsequent events. He hated me and refused to speak. He hugged Ra Atl but would not respond to me. When I held him, his body was limp. He did not speak to either of us.

We decided to establish an intertribal nursery where handicapped or retarded children could be raised and not destroyed in their youth, as was typical in those days. We held meetings at the homes of other tribes and held ceremonies in our village to exchange gifts and take their so-called "weak" children.  Some tribal leaders obliged us and were glad.  Others were angry but consented under pressure from their wives.  A few wives joined us and became nursery caretakers.  They adopted our ways and participated in our rituals and celebrations. Deuteronomy 14:29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
