I was introduced to one of the Chief's whose wife had died. There was
an immediate intimacy between us. He told me that when his wife died, she
made him promise he would remain celibate. We met often and discussed policy
and technique over lunch and dinner. I planned to move in with him
as soon as his children could accept me. I rejected his death bed promise
as having any relevance. He knew. We kept good company. I
was a virgin.
