After that I was promoted to Chief Council Representative of which there
were 5 males and 5 females. A vacancy had been left by the wife of one of
the chief's. I made friends with the High Priest's daughter and her best
friend. We fast became the TRIO. We traveled almost everywhere together and
helped each other govern our respective communities. The Chief High Priest
had no sons, so his daughter would have inherited his dominion if she could
achieve the proper mastery. I was perceived as a threat to her ascension,
but she and I thought little about it. We were good friends (and still are).
There was another person on the Council. A tall handsome man who looked very
good in his blue priestly garments. We were friends but did not have conferences
very often as his island was removed from mine and his people worked at different
tasks than mine. We generally voted the same way in council meetings and
it seems we had a natural affinity for each other. His name is Alta.
